I was involved in a hit and run and the insurance agent called two months later with a claim, what do I do?

Monday, August 31st, 2009

I left the scene of an accident two months ago, I know it was stupid, and I regret it. My insurance agent called and reported a claim that someone saw the accident and wrote the plates, but the driver was unknown. Can I just go through insurance now, since there was no police report and pay for the damages without getting the law involved?

Are you a former travel agent who went into a new career?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I was a travel agent for about 15 years, been a stay-a-home mom for about 2 years. My daughter started school this year, and I’m thinking about going back to work. I’m looking for a new field and wondered what other types of work might be a good match for me.

Can a licensed Real Estate Agent be considered a business entity?

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Or would I have to actually incorporate myself or become a Sole Proprietorship even though I work under a Broker like Long and Foster?

I ask because I want to get a small business loan to help cover the cost of advertising, cards, flyers, etc., and also to pay fees associated with being a Real Estate agent.
I must add I just became an agent and I have not yet joined the board of Realtors or MLS because I can’t currently afford to. I have not sold any properties as of yet.

Can agent of POA in MI obligate Principal for a mortgage without Principals consent? Do you know MI statute?

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

If a durable Power of Attorney in Michigan is issued, can the agent on the POA enter into a mortgage agreement and use the POA to obligate the Principal as a guarantor on the mortgage without the Principal’s knowledge of the transaction? What is the recourse if the agent used proceeds of the mortgage for personal gain and did not meet the obligations of the mortgage? Does anyone know the specific Michigan statute that would apply to this situation?

Can an FBI agent be in the Witness Protection Program and have no record of them for protection reasons?

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Say the the FBI agent went into the Witness Protection Program before he/she became an agent. Would they be able to find that person if suddenly a murder occurred and that person my be a suspect. Would the agent’s record be available in the FBI database?
I’m not an FBI agent lol. I’m a writer who just needs answers for the novel I’m writing.

Can a real estate agent work for more than 1 broker?

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

I am about to become a licensed real estate agent. I plan to go into regular residential sales because I already have a couple of brokerage firms that I would be interested in working for.

However, I am knowledgable in a certain niche area (horses) and I know of a real estate company that specializes in equestrian properties only. That seems like a natural fit for me, and equestrian properties tend to go for big bucks, but the properties are really spread out location-wise, so I don’t see how I could do that full time, unless I feel like driving 8 hours to show a property to someone! It seems to me like those sales would be few and far between; I imagine working for a local residential brokerage would be feasible as well.

Before I approach the equestrian properties company, I need to know: can I work for two brokerages?
